Why " Project White Rose" ?
Our blog is named " Project White Rose" after the the White Rose group, a youth resistance movement in Nazi Germany.Led by Hans Scholl and his sister Sophie, several young people and their philosophy professor decided to take a stand against their corrupt government and the evil practices of the Nazi's.
In 1942, the group began secretly distributing leaflets entitled, "The White Rose", which contained annonymous essays stating the truth about the Nazi regime's practices and what it was doing to their country. The leaflets were distributed on the group's campus on the University of Munich and soon people were recieving them all across Germany and Austria.
On Feb. 18th, 1943, Hans and Sophie were caught on campus with their latest leaflet. Four days later, they were tried and executed for their "crimes". Four other members of the group were later tried and executed also.
Today, everyone in Germany knows the story of the White Rose. There are streets, squares, and schools all over Germany named for the members of The White Rose.
6,000,000 Jews were murdered in Nazi Germany during the Holocaust. There were those that chose to ignore what was going on in their country, singing louder when trains carrying Jews to their deaths roared past their churches on Sundays. And then there were those, like the members of the White Rose and others, who chose to stand against what they knew to be wrong.
Today in our country, nearly 50,000,000 unborn babies have lost their lives by legalized abortion. What are you gonna do about it?
